HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAREST.

OHHH DEAREST, HERE WE ARE AGAIN.
In all honesty I don't know what I can say to you that I haven't said before, but regardless I want to make the attempt. I love you endlessly and I have for - what, a decade now? I think we hit our decade mark, laughs. I'm glad that we've been able to know each other for as long as we have, shared all the laughs that we have, all our achievements and just how far we've managed to come. I'm shocked and delighted that it's been so long, because it feels some days like nothing's changed between us at all since that first night when we talked for literally hours on end.
I can't even begin to name all the things that we've done since that first time that we met - can you believe that we both started and graduated our first runs through undergrad? Sometimes I think about that and just crack up. Then the forays into adulthood, even though somehow we still haven't quite managed to shake the ni waraus and Personas in our lives. Even our superhero phase has somehow managed to circle back around, admittedly in anime form this time. It's interesting how time works - how it used to be a flying fish and even now it's still just as much of an enigma.
But regardless I know I'm lucky when I get to think of all the time that I've spent with you, and how much I've gotten to see you accomplish for my seat. You've figured out so much of life and gone back to school to get even better at languages that I do not even remotely understand, and you're absolutely making progress on your adventure of conquering the world. You're just as smart, kind, brilliant, and patient as the first day that I met you - you've also managed to succeed in finding your limits for how much bullshit you'll take from the world which is also a blessing because you've taken on enough for multiple lifetimes. They're just more tools in your belt with which to crush people beneath your heel, and I'm delighted each day to see what new, amazing things you get to do.
So here's my usual love letter to you, to celebrate you on the day of your birthday because I always think it's an absurdly magical day, every single year. We're suckers for tradition and patterns here, after all!!
My gifts to you are most certainly on their way, even if some of them are a bit overdue - but I hope that you enjoy whenever they make it to you.
And of course I'll give you the biggest hug ever when I see you again in a few weeks. I can't wait. ♥♥
